FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Much Does Counselling Cost?

As a charity, raising funds is important to maintain our service. We ask that those who can would give a donation toward the cost, however free services are available for those who need them.

How Can I Refer/Access The Centre?

We take self referrals/GP referrals/Health professionals/Schools/Churches/Parent centres. Information will be taken over the phone or via email; and if counselling deemed appropriate an appointment will be made for an initial assessment.

How Long Before I Can See A Counsellor?

Unfortunately the demand for our counselling services often outstrips our ability to provide them at point of need, meaning that from time to time we maintain a short waiting list for counselling. You will be provided with an assessment within two weeks of referral and at this assessment you will be provided with an approximate waiting time. As homelessness and addiction work is done on an informal, needs based service, appointments are offered almost immediately. Please contact the centre to discuss our current waiting times.

Can I Make An Appointment For Someone Else?

A key requirement for making counselling work is the recognition of a problem and a desire to seek to overcome it. It may be possible that you are concerned for someone else, however we will not be able to help them until they want to help themselves. If in any doubt feel free to contact the centre on 01384 239222 or send your enquiry to admin@lighthousecounselling.org

What Are The Opening Times?

The centre normally runs from 09:30 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday, with Heaven’s Kitchen running from 18:30-20:00 every Monday night.
